Current status
Discera has accessibility-minded implementation patterns and targeted automated tests for parts of the participant journey. A full WCAG audit has not been completed. Discera does not currently claim WCAG conformance, VPAT completion, or an Accessibility Conformance Report for the product.

Player join
The public code-entry, short-link, display-name, avatar, rejoin, and player-recovery flows that get participants into a Run.

Documented accessibility checks
Review owner: Mikkel Abildtoft. Last reviewed: .
These examples describe checks and implementation patterns in the codebase. They are not a dated verification of accessibility across the participant journey or evidence of formal conformance.
- The join page has automated coverage for named controls, form labeling, keyboard reachability, and the Home link in the code-entry flow.
- Shared test helpers assert accessible button names, form-control names, fieldset names, and keyboard-navigable controls in covered route tests.
- Player status changes use a polite live region, with tests covering eliminated-player announcements.
- Presentation and gameplay components include reduced-motion paths for reveal choreography, prize draws, screen flashes, typewriter effects, and leaderboard motion.
- Presentation result panels include semantic regions or table roles where the display is data-oriented, including response distribution and priority-ranking panels.
- Image-based question and theme assets carry alt-text plumbing through authoring, preview, display, export formatting, and player-facing rendering paths where that content exists.
Known gaps
Review owner: Mikkel Abildtoft. Last reviewed: .
- No independent WCAG audit, assistive-technology test pass, or disabled-user research session has been completed for the full participant journey.
- No VPAT or Accessibility Conformance Report exists yet, so Discera should not be described as VPAT-ready or formally WCAG conformant.
- Automated checks are representative, not exhaustive. They do not cover every route state, browser, mobile screen size, screen reader, or live-Run timing condition.
- Presentation-screen and room-display surfaces are optimized for shared viewing. They still need manual review at high zoom, with screen readers, and with participants relying only on their own device.
- Host-provided media, embedded videos, custom images, and authored content can affect accessibility. Discera can preserve alt-text and captions where provided, but pilot hosts still need content review guidance.
Areas we know need work

These are known areas for improvement, not delivery commitments. No completion dates are promised for these items. The section review cadence is not a delivery deadline.
- Manual participant-surface auditing across join, live gameplay, eliminated/finished states, moderated content, and audience display.
- A VPAT/Accessibility Conformance Report, considered only after audit evidence supports the claims in it.
- Broader automated coverage for screen-reader announcements, keyboard-only answer submission, zoom/text resizing, and reduced-motion behavior across the highest-risk live states.
- Host-facing content guidance for image alt text, embedded-video captions, readable question copy, and accessible event moderation practices.
